i bought a great old craft book in california last month: better homes and gardens stitchery and crafts, from 1966. i like these simple crochet projects for decorating pillows.

i finally bought the elements of style, illustrated by maira kalman. the painted illustrations are so great, i can’t get enough of them. this one above is one of my favorites.
the new york times had some great design related stories this weekend… one was the magazine cover story on olivier theyskens and the closing of rochas. it was an interesting look at business vs. artistic expression in fashion. i also enjoyed reading about the mural on a dumbo construction site by artist pasqualina azzarello. i had walked by the mural on saturday and taken pictures of it, and wondered who painted it.

new purchase: mugs from about glamour
little otsu is one of my favorite online shops. they make some of the best stationery and paper goods… and i recently bought this t-shirt of geese conversing. i love a design that makes me laugh every time i look at it.
