Goldie the Dollmaker, by M. B. Goffstein, has always been my absolute favorite children’s book. Goldie Rosenzweig lives alone and follows her parents profession of carving wooden dolls. she paints the dolls faces with such care, and they smile back at her… working in her little house, at her little worktable, she drinks her tea and eats her buns. it’s such a simple, sweet story about a craftsperson and the love that she puts into her work and the delight she gets when she sees a girl with one of her dolls. i love this book!
