I recently tried over-dyeing in my front loading washer for the first time. I wanted to dye a white quilt that had gotten discolored and stained and i was inspired by the beautiful over-dyed ticking fabric in the restoration hardware catalog. dyeing in a front loader doesn’t work as well as a top loader since the fabric doesn’t soak in the same way, but I was really happy with the muted results. you can’t tell very well in this photo– but the color came out khaki with a blue tone.
congrats to the winner of a muny scarf, caitlin of the story girl (who made the sweet baby sweater above).
also, tomorrow is the last day to order MAPS books at 2 for the price of one.
i’m looking forward too seeing the new matisse exhibit at the met.
thinking about warm LA today…
