on my wish list!
this top and this dress, new from ilana kohn.
today, our neighborhood was filled with kids getting out of school for the start of summer vacation. it made me long for summers off and travel plans. we have some trips coming up that i’m excited about, but thinking about all the maps i have drawn, martha’s vineyard and venice are at the top of my list of places i would like to be right now.
in celebration of the start of summer, i’m dropping the price of MAPS books from $35 to $30, and offering free US shipping (books will ship via media mail), from now until monday, july 4th.
also– i will give away one book to a commenter (chosen at random). what are you doing this summer?
i’m a little bit obsessed with making woven potholders! it started on a recent trip to california. i was at a children’s store buying presents for my niece and nephew, and i saw the potholder kit. then i had a goodbye lunch for jenny (we miss you, jenny!) and we made them. i can’t stop.

these are sooooo beautiful in person.
paper cutting: contemporary artists, timeless craft
compiled by laura heyenga.
this book includes many artists whose work i have admired and posted about before: heather moore, rob ryan, mia pearlman, nikki mcclure, chris natrop– and more. paper cutting is a medium i really admire because it is so labor intensive when so much is digital these days.
there are only five more days to join the card society, maria’s beautiful project of five years. i’m lucky to have such a talented friend!
i love these bloomers from cal’s clothing line and etsy shop hodgepodge farm.
in the wilds, drawings by nigel peake
i love nigel’s drawing style and i’ve had my eye on this book!
from the press release:
in the wilds is a visceral collection of hand-drawn linear illustrations and beautifully muted watercolors depicting the irish countryside. nigel peake holds a master of architecture from the university of edinburgh.
for those who read jenny’s blog, you know that she is leaving brooklyn and her beautiful shared studio space with jennifer and anne. it’s such a special spot, and if i didn’t have a studio space in my home i would be moving in myself. the entrance reminds me of an alley in paris… filled with plants and a fig tree. the buildings are occupied by all different types of creative people and it’s where we photographed the cover of brooklyn diary. jennifer posted here about looking for a new studiomate, so i wanted to post too in case someone reading this is interested.
