a few photos… i haven’t had much time to post lately. i’ve been (happily) busy with: getting used to my new ruitine with gus, filling orders for the d*s shop (which finished up this weekend, thank you again grace! i’m looking forward to the new set of designers this week), and hanging out with out of town visitors…
Monthly Archives: October 2006
photos from amanda barr’s show at the branch gallery have been posted on branch’s website. i loved seeing them! her ink (and collage) on paper works are my favorite.
NEW IN THE SHOP!
just added to the shop: crocheted dolls, by sian keegan. the dolls are inspired by wooden figures made by alexander girard in the 1960s (recently re-issued by vitra). each doll has so much personality, i fell in love with them! click here to see all four dolls.
the acejet170 blog has inspired me to start photographing favorites from my collection of vintage design, craft, art, cooking, and children’s books, and posting them on to flickr…
i followed the link to artist/interior designers john meyers and linda wary of warymeyers, who made the incredible repainted eames chair, from time out‘s home design issue… and i loved, loved looking through their portfolio of work. their rooms are so fun and playful– and colorful! and all the wallpaper! much of it is not my taste overall, but i love the mixing of colors and style, and vintage pieces. i want to start expanding my small collection of needlepoint pillows!
i found this great pillow at a vintage dealer’s showroom last year, and recognized it as an illustratoion by georges lepape, from a book called the art of vogue covers, by william packer. it’s interesting comparing the print to the needlepoint design, and how the pillow artist made some design choices different from the original– i love the hand in bright orange.
i love up-close photos of rugs and carpets… the shapes of the fibers and the organic, haphazard patterns they make. they’re always really inspiring for me. top photo from doctor casino, middle photo from della robbia, bottom from natural home rugs.
i love this repainted vintage eames chair, from the home design (oct 19-35) issue of time out new york. so inspiring!
UPDATE:
the chair (and all the “renovated” furniture in time out) were done by artists linda and john meyers, of wary meyers decorative arts.
and the chair is being auctioned off (i want it!!)
