our long stay out here in sf is coming to an end soon…
today we went to the heath ceramics factory/store in sausalito. it’s such an inspiring place. every piece is still made there, in the original heath studio. to see a business thriving, which has stayed true to its belief in the craft of local manufacturing, and appreciation for the beauty of hand-crafted objects and the artisans who create them, is really encouraging. as a designer/small business owner, i liked reading about the “heath values” on their website.
it’s been nice and sunny most of our time here, but today it started raining, and it was actually very cozy… as we drove across the golden gate bridge to heath.
I was just looking at the Heath site this morning, and so it’s great to see photos of all their beautiful things in “real life”. I’d love to visit there too one day.
Hope you have a very happy 2008, filled with good things.
i have to say i’m a bit jealous of your trip to the Heath store…lucky!
oh lucky you! i am so in love with their work.
enjoy the rest of your stay in sf!
there must have been something in the air this Holiday Season, have a look at Tiffany’s latest 7th photo down.

i felt the same way when i toured the factory. i was ready to drop my day job to sweep floors just to be a part of their team. pretty wonderful…
sorry you got the bad weather here. i just got back home from out of town to all of the rain…
lovely home tours, by the way!

i use my heath dishes each and every day and the factory is always a stop for me when i’m in the bay area. edith really created timeless beauty – her pieces look as fresh as the the she designed them. i am so glad that the new owners have maintained and honored the spirit of her creations.
it looks so wonderful. one day I hope to make the pilgramage!
