my mom is the cook at a really special school– one i went to for 11 years. i helped out today while she cooked lunch for the teachers. she makes mostly all organic food, all from scratch. the lettuce and edible pansy flowers were from the school garden. i wandered through the preschool classroom and took some photos of the beautiful montessori materials. they bring back a lot of memories.

  1. I've been on the hunt for a dust broom that isn't horrible and plastic. I think I just found the one of my dreams. Happy memories.

  5. This school looks so wonderful! I would really love if my little girl could attend such a school one day – it would feel just right.

  6. What a wonderful place to work! I love seeing those loaves of freshly baked bread, that gorgeous salad, and such good materials in a space for children. You're so fortunate to have gone to school there.

  7. Ah, I wish we could send our daughter to a Montessori school when the time comes… SO lovely that you had the opportunity. Also – that salad looks delicious.

  10. This post is great, look me back to being a kid 🙂 Man I wish my school food was as good as that. My mum tried to turn the canteen into a healthy canteen and it caused a huge ruckus.

  11. i've made the slaw recipe twice in a row because it is so, so yummy! thanks for posting a delicious recipe 🙂

  12. What an amazing looking school. I hope we can find something like it for Emmett!

  13. Montessori! I teach at a Montessori school for 2 to 5-year-olds here in London. Love the what looks like meditation cushions you've got. School starts in less than a week, wow. Montessori is full of patterns. And I'm in love with the leaf shape inset cabinets. Do you know cardboard concertina chairs? You'd probably love them. They fold into a book. I should take a picture and post on my blog. I'm bringing the chair in for the kids! Anyway, glad to have come across your blog. Have a bright day!
