MAPS!

for the last seven years i’ve illustrated a monthly map for elle decor magazine. the project just came to an end, and my last map for the magazine will run in a couple months. i’ve wanted to publish a book of my favorite maps for a long time– and that book is finally here! it was a challenging project for me, printing overseas for the first time and dealing with the stresses that come along with that. but i’m so happy with how the book turned out. it’s hardbound with a really nice textured cover that reminds me of old library books, in a warm, creamy off-white/yellow. i wanted the book to function both as a coffee table book and a children’s book. i chose 40 maps to include in the book; 20 from within the US and 20 beyond the US. i’m offering a special price for today and through the weekend, $29 instead of $35. thanks for taking a look!

  1. omg lena i LOVE it. i just illustrated my first map for our wedding invites and am totally addicted.. congrats on this book project!!

  2. Very beautiful! I really like the combination of the both very graphic and naive style.

  3. looks beautiful! ooh, would be amazing if you did a children's book about (in no particular order): trucks, trains, fish, whales, cats, and whatever else leon is obsessed with at the moment 😉

  4. this looks great! I think you succeeded with making it both a coffeetablebook and a children's book.

  5. Lena these are beautiful. love how they have a somewhat timeless quality yet with a kinda quaint vintage overtone to them. Congratulations!!

  6. beautiful map book lena! we plan to take in your fort greene recs when visiting nyc…

  7. Why does in your books appear buenos aires and not Santiago of Chile!!!
I wanna by the book but now i dont know -__-

  8. the maps are very beautiful and i like that you decided to have the book double as a children's and adults' book.

  9. I always love your maps in Elle Decor. I will miss seeing them in each issue. Such a great idea to compile them in a book!

  10. Lena, have you ever considered (and would it be possible) selling prints of the individual maps?

I would dearly love a print of a particular city! Of course, I could buy the book and take it apart for the one page, but that seems horrible to me (I find it hard to treat any book badly, much less a gorgeous book like this).

Just a thought from a fan.

  11. HI there – I came across your book on the Curiosity Shoppe website and would love to feature it in Elle Decoration South Africa. I need to get in touch with you to get some images and a bit more info if possible – at your earliest convenience (mags are ALWAYS on deadline…). many thanks – Kelly
