this is why i needed the straw straws (i ended up using real straw!)

i’ll be selling a couple of these paper chandeliers/mobiles at the flea on saturday. i wanted to make something to decorate the empty ceiling of the tent. the idea came from this post on laura normandin’s blog. thank you for the inspiration laura! these are quite labor intensive, but a lot of fun too.

it’s a dreary day here… but cozy!

  1. This is so lovely, Lena. It reminds me of those Indian wedding garlands that are made by stringing chrysanthemums. Ah just one more reason I need to hop the Bolt bus and make it to the Flea a weekend soon . . .

  2. I actually remember reading that post over at Wrens and thinking how great it would be to actually make one, and you did! and it looks absolutely amazing!

  3. oh! i bookmarked that post too, i was so smitten with the prettiness. yours is beautiful! thos colors make me feel all warm & fuzzy…

  4. looks beautiful. i posted the original pic on my blog, as well. especially nice to see when we have frost/snow in the garden.

  5. How FUN! You have inspired me to dig out my tissue paper. Maybe a Christmas theme…..

  6. Ah, you made a pajak. 🙂
As I commented previously, these come in abundance to us here in Germany, and a package costs much less than in Japan… I would have loved to help you out (and save you the cutting of endless wheat straws).

    Never mind, tho. 🙂
