i’m a little obsessed with handmade baskets and i’m always looking out for them at thrift stores (these are from ebay).
i wish i was taking the basket making class at the textile arts center this weekend.
my love of patterns comes from both my mom and her good friend karen, who was like a second mom to me. she is an art teacher and vintage/antiques seller, and is endlessly inspiring in her bold style and incredible taste. i’ve posted photos of her home in california here, and at my wedding here, and now if you’d like to see some of her everyday outfits, you can watch these videos here. she reminds me to have fun with clothes!

textile artist altoon sultan was born in brooklyn, NY in 1948 and lives in vermont.
it was a nice and flattering surprise to see that our wedding was listed among the top 10 real weddings in this special issue of martha stewart weddings magazine. sometimes i think about what i would choose for a wedding today, maybe differently from 6 years ago. josh was the one who convinced me to have a proper wedding, i always wanted to go to city hall and then have a big party at a restaurant or in a park. my style has changed a bit since our wedding so i would do some of the details differently… but overall our wedding was so fun, laid-back, and it was a real group effort from friends and family, so i wouldn’t change much.
