i love patterns in almost every style but have never been a fan of laura ashley (or didn’t realize i was!). so i’m surprised to be posting about their “new” archive collection, which is reproductions of their original prints and patterns from the 1970s– all made from organic cotton. they seem to only be available in the uk… via style will save us.
That’s so funny… some of those prints I had as wallpaper when I was growing up – now I could wear my childhood bedroom!
oh that’s funny… do you like them this time around? or is it too nostalgic…??
whatever happened to laura ashley in the states? there used to be a store in every other mall. the last dress i bought there was in 1996, everything after that was pretty unwearable. i like the archives prints, though. thanks for posting about it.
I actually really like some of those…good find. I’ll be mentioning it on my blog as well.
I had a summer job, working at Laura Ashley in London,1973, and the simple but beautiful printed cottons and clothing were what people were absolutely mad for (now, in a somewhat different form [weird colors] in the “archive” collection). I have always wondered why the Ashleys didn’t stick with the classic look as it was more distinctive than the florals and velvets that came later and seemed more conventional/mainstream (and I did not relate). I still have remnants from quilts, dresses, and curtain projects and would love to see, again, the lovely black & white fashion photos taken by the Ashleys’ daughter, Jane. Fun to see the old patterns re-emerging. Maybe the time is, again, ripe!
