a book full of patterns... my favorite!
derek fagerstrom and lauren smith, owners of the curiosity shoppe in san francisco, have a new book out today called wallpaper projects: more than 50 craft ideas for your home, from accents to art. i designed a pattern for the inside jacket and endpapers, which will also be produced as a wallpaper. the book is so cute! here are some of my favorite pages... and there's an interview with derek and lauren on design*sponge today.

a couple updates...

i got the shoes! at soula in park slope. thanks sherise!

and thanks so much to everyone who left a paris recommendation. we booked a moderate hotel in the center of the city. i am a little disappointed that we're not staying in an apartment. but for such a short trip, we decided the convenience for a hotel might be better. i've enjoyed seeing jen's paris breakfasts the last few days...

i stopped in earnest sewn yesterday, and saw the rob ryan exhibit in the back (and snapped some photos with my phone). go check it out if you're a fan of his work! i loved how the floor was covered in remnants from his cut-outs.

i few things that caught my eye from permanent vacation. the leggings bring back memories of a pair i had in '91.

karin gave me this beautiful candle holder a few months ago, and i've been meaning to take a photo. it's made from a small slab of unglazed black clay, and i love it. also, josh fixed a floor board yesterday and found this old spoon. our house is about 150 years old... i wonder what year this spoon was lost?

josh and i are going to paris for a mini vacation in the end of may, and i would LOVE some tips on where to go-- restaurants, shops, museums, etc. i've only been to paris once when i was fifteen years old. i've read through these great suggestions. this has to be a low budget trip for us, so it will be mostly just window shopping and we'll have to be creative about not spending too much on food (baguettes and croissants are fine with me!)...

* we don't have a hotel booked yet. any suggestions? we're looking at cheap hotels (150 euros max). i'm wondering if it's worth saving money and staying further out, or would we regret not being in a really central location?
