here is lines & shapes, volume seven.
i love this book. i really, really love it...

maria and i started making books last year. we met up for the first time in williamsburg, and had lunch at cafe 1980 (sadly, no longer there). maria snapped this beautiful photo of our table. when i look through my photos of 2008, my time working with maria has been some of the best times. we're excited for what is to come in 2009 for our little publishing company.

come see more of the new book here.

april textile stamping class
beginner level

learn to print allover patterns on tote bags, cloth napkins, fabric yardage (and more) using handmade stamps. this class is new and improved-- after observing some difficulties that people have had in past classes, i've done some adjusting and experimenting, and am excited to offer this class again!

three 2-hour sessions
6:00pm - 8:00pm
Tuesdays, April 14, 21, 28
$220 +supplies

- - -

april sewing tunic/dress workshop with cal patch
intermediate level

cal will be in town briefly and i'm so happy that she has time to teach this class! if you¹re like me, and know how to use a sewing machine, but have always been intimidated to try a pattern on your own, then this class is perfect for you. we will be using the Simplicity 3964 Built By Wendy pattern. students must arrive at class with pieces already cut out and marked, as this can take up to 2 hours and it will be otherwise impossible to finish the project in the allotted time. yummy lunch included!

see the pattern here:

one 5 hour workshop
11am 4pm
sunday april 19th
$125 + supplies
there will also be a 1 hour finishing class on monday april 20th at 6pm, if needed.

another preview of volume seven...
maria and i get together every couple of months, either in portland or brooklyn, to work on the next lines & shapes book. but we also have to send things back and forth through the mail. when maria overnighted me the 2nd proof for our latest book, she included a huge slice (one quarter actually) of her freshly baked yellow cake. if you follow 3191, you know that maria does a lot of baking without refined sugar. this cake was so perfectly sweet, a natural, more subtle sweet... it was amazing. and getting a huge piece of cake in the mail is one of the best things ever!

a few favorites and a sneak peek at mociun fall 09...
the prints are incredible, as always!

a few more listings on ebay...

Friday, March 06, 2009

i'm slowly listing some clothes (mostly vintage) on ebay. i have a hard time parting with vintage clothes, especially if they have great patterns and are well-made-- but i'm forcing myself to let go of things that i don't wear. i'd rather they go to new homes where they'll be worn an appreciated. i bought the strapless number in the top photo for a wedding dress. it's too big for me, and i planned to alter it. i ended up finding another dress that fit perfectly. but isn't that dress amazing?? my plan is to continue adding items to ebay for the next few weeks...

a new (old) cup from mav... thank you! i love it.

i love this poster created by christopher silas neal -- both visually and the message it sends. christopher was asked by readymade magazine (along with four other artists) to design a poster in the style of the depression era WPA posters. you can download it for free (and read more about his process) here.

we had a surprise birthday party for my brother on saturday. after seeing so many balloon photos lately, i had to get some (so i went to this funny party store at the atlantic mall.) i loved the colors. they look so flat and graphic in the night-time light.
